In previous blog posts, we have discussed the importance of engaging your audience via social media.  You can use a variety of tools to get your followers’ attention, but today I want to take a closer look at a fantastic resource called Rafflecopter. Rafflecopter offers a free and easy way to organize and promote an online giveaway. It takes about 15 seconds to register a free account, and you can be setting up your first giveaway in minutes. So without further ado…

Let’s start giving!

Once you have set up your free account, select the “+New Giveaway” button at the top of your dashboard.

Name your giveaway and describe your prize or prizes.

Then select your desired method of entry. I love all of the different options Rafflecopter has available here. You can require entrants to “like” your page on Facebook, share a tweet, comment on a blog post, and much more. So you can target the specific social media outlets you wish to grow. You may allow multiple modes of entry, or just one. It’s up to you. With the purchase of Rafflecopter’s “business” account, you have the option of enabling the “viral sharing” feature for fans to earn additional entries.

You can also assign different “point” values to each method of entry. Rafflecopter even gives you the option of making certain methods of entry mandatory for your participants.

Choose your start and end dates.

Next you will need to enter the terms and conditions of your giveaway. If you are using a free account, you will need to create your own terms and conditions. With a “blogger” account, Rafflecopter offers their “E-Z Terms/Conditions” template for users to incorporate. Once you have entered your terms, simply click on “get the widget.”

Now you are given the embed code for your Rafflecopter giveaway widget. From here you can copy and past the code into the HTML of your desired page. You can even install your widget on a Facebook page with the click of a button. Cool, right?

By selecting the “show list” option, you can filter your entries by timestamp, entrant, entry method, and more.
