Hootsuite Pro’s New “Suggested” Feature
Any social media addict specialist has their favorite tools for managing brand, personal, and client campaigns. If we don’t have tools for reporting – we don’t have jobs.
My personal favorite is Hootsuite. It’s what I’m comfortable with – it’s what I love. And Hootsuite Pro just got even better with one of their new features – Suggested Posts.
If you’re already using Hootsuite Pro (it’s not expensive and it has a lot more options than the free account) you might have seen Suggested Posts in Beta already.
Head over to the “Publisher” part of your Hootsuite account (it’s the paper airplane in the left navigation). Previously we just had “Scheduled”, “Require Approval” (great for teams), and “Past Scheduled.”
Now we also have “Suggested”!
This is how it works.
First, you get to add topics that your demographic likes – so for us I put social media, SEO, Lancaster PA, etc. I could change it to PPC, internet marketing, branding, web development, etc.
Then you choose which social platform you want the content to be curated on – Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.
Last you choose your scheduling preferences – what days would you like them to schedule tweets for you? Is there a certain day you’re less active on twitter, or a day you never post on LinkedIn? It’ll help you customize that.
Click “review suggestions” and voila!
So Suggestions –
Hootsuite basically pulls news, articles, and content based on the interests you’ve given it, and what your followers like. It’s a little spotty and doesn’t always do a great job, but there are some gems. (ProTip: Click on the image to see it larger)
It also chooses an optimized time for scheduling the post, although you have the option to edit the time/day for it to be posted.
Overall, it’s a great new feature that saves you time and helps to diversify your Twitter account. I’m excited to have it and use it for my clients, and I can’t wait to see what other great features Hootsuite may be developing.
