Web Talent Marketing Continues to Grow

That’s right, folks. Web Talent Marketing has hired yet another employee since our last newsletter. We are proud to be able to provide better and more readily available service to our clients, and each employee adds to that particular pot of #win for both us and our clients alike.

Tommy Cooper - Jr. SEO Specialist for Web Talent Marketing

Tommy left his tie with his other t-shirt.

Tommy is the name of the new fella. He’s our newest member in the SEO department, and as our resident Jr. SEO Specialist, he’ll be helping increase rankings and traffic for our clients’ websites, as well as contributing his incredibly gifted brainwaves toward other goals for our clients’ marketing efforts. Among his personal interests are disc golf, playing bass and singing in a punk rock band, and spreading a cheery vibe around the office.

We’re happy to have Tommy on board, and we can’t wait to see what his future with Web Talent will bring.

Lancaster’s Mayor Rick Gray Visits the Web Talent Offices

We’re feeling political this week at Web Talent. Mayor Rick Gray of Lancaster City stopped by to see what the fuss was about, regarding our constantly growing internet marketing company in his lovely city.

Mayor Rick Gray Visits Web Talent Marketing

Lancaster City Mayor: Rick Gray

The mayor had a good chat session with Web Talent’s two owners, Mike Canarelli and Oliver Feakins, after which he came around the office and introduced himself to each one of our employees. It is great to see that our mayor is so well grounded (he likes motorcycles!), and we are glad that our hard work and honest approach to business has grabbed the attention of our mayor. He seems to appreciate the fact that Web Talent is growing and providing more jobs for Lancaster citizens, hosting internships, and that we contribute to the local business scene through various small business seminars and speaking engagements around town.

Mayor Gray (Democrat) assumed office back in 2006, after a successful career as a lawyer and the Director of Legal Services for Central Pennsylvania. Gray’s campaign for the office of mayor was mainly focused on reducing the local financial deficit of our city, and then turned his attention to the local crime scene.

Web Talent is Growing! Three New Hires in 2013

At the beginning of 2012, our little internet marketing agency had about 8 employees. By the end of 2012, we had nearly doubled. Now in 2013, we’ve already hired three more employees!

A quick introduction to the three new members of the team (full bios and pictures coming soon on our meet the team page):
welcome our new hires!
Matt Burkarth - PPC Department
The second Matt to be hired by Web Talent, focuses his expertise on our PPC clients while he learns the ropes of on-site SEO. We’re excited to have him on board!

Kevin Konrad Creative Department
Fresh out of college, “KK” has mastered HTML and CSS, and has a strong desire to learn more about design and SEO as he helps our clients succeed.

Matt Riggleman - SEO Department
Our third Matt, commonly known as “Rigs,” “Riggles,” or “Smiley”, comes to us with several years of experience in E-commerce SEO and marketing. By the way, the guy really does smile a lot.

2012 – Web Talent’s Year in Review

It’s that time of year again – a time for reflection on the past 12 months and looking forward to what the next year has to offer. 2012 was an incredible year for Web Talent Marketing as a whole; our production team more than doubled in the last twelve months and, as a midsized business, this is rapid growth and keeps us thrilled to see what 2013 holds for us.

Fun

The fun began with a trip out to Argentina to visit our hard-working team in our satellite office based in Buenos Aires. Need a website optimized for Spanish speakers in the US? Claro que si! Our knowledgeable BA team  quadrupled during 2012, and is still growing!

Look, you can see the WTM office from here…

This year we celebrated birthdays in style, and while each birthday is slightly embarrassing for those being celebrated, the humor of each party keeps us going throughout the rest of the month.

Check out how talented the WTM team is at gift wrapping here.

Or, if you are like me, all you want for your birthday is to be touched by a teenager in a giant rat costume. Happy birthday, me.

I don’t think Chuck here has his GED.

 Training

Things aren’t all fun and games here at Web Talent, no matter what the Real Housewives might say.

We get down to some serious business, and we are seriously committed to upping our game in 2013. This past year we attended some incredible conferences, like Link Love in Boston and SMX East in New York City. We also hosted a number of  local industry meetups and Q&A panels in the Lancaster area. If you are interested in attending any of the meetups coming up, join our Meetup Group here. Keep an eye out for us this year at the Conversion Conference in Chicago and SMX West in San Jose. We are bringing our A-Game and will return to drop some knowledge bombs on our unsuspecting (but actually thrilled) clients!

Results

We took on some great (and challenging) clients in 2012, ranging from animal control products to retail stores carrying yoga mats, and from law offices to fire truck sales. We can’t give you specific numbers, cause ya know, our clients own that information, but we do have some wicked Conversion Rate Optimization and SEO case studies in case you were curious as to the sheer volume of sick game that we lay down. Happy customers means a happy team, and all of Web Talent is smiling!

Teamwork

Moving into 2013 we are looking to expand our team even more, with two new hires during our first quarter. If you have experience in the digital marketing industry and are looking for a fun but hardworking and totally rewarding atmosphere, check out our careers page for hiring opportunities!

Web Talent Marketing VP gets LOCKED UP

I recently had the privilege to participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s premier fundraising program, “Lock Up”, on behalf of Web Talent.  I agreed to be “put behind bars” where I had to utilize my vendors, co-workers, family and friends to get donations that went toward my “bail.” Web Talent matched all outside donations I received, and while I fell short of my $3,000 bail amount, mercy was had and I was released.

This experience proved to be a tremendous opportunity to support a great organization.  All funds raised by the MDA Lock-Up assist the Association in providing lifesaving research, a nationwide network of medical clinics and accessible summer camp experiences to individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases.

Jail is not so bad.

Web Talent is Animal-Friendly!

One of the greatest benefits of being a privately-owned and owner-operated business is that we get to make up our own rules. We eat when we want, we wear what we want, and we get to bring our closest friends to work with us every day!

"freeze-dried tubifex worms... nommmmm"

Recently we have been growing our in-office relationship with nature by adding some slippery somethings that we float in water and feed compressed freeze-dried organic matter – and they love it!

That's a shark's butt. A very tiny shark's butt.

Now, of course we still love and adore the animals we already had. Who could forget such classics as Simon & Garfunkel? Well, it turns out Simon is a girl. Not Paul Simon, although I’m not saying he ISN’T a girl, I am just legally obligated to be vague on that topic so as to avoid a lawsuit after which I will lose my job. I am saying that Simon the half-moon betta fish, previously thought to be of the male gender, is of the feminine persuasion. This has caused mass hysteria in the office, resulting in an overall lack of faith in humanity (Brent) and a strong case of stress-induced hives (Ray). Simon will from this day forward be known as Simone.

I'm not a dude!

Garfunkel, though the clearly under-appreciated artist in the group, has no comment.

Control your emotions.

Never to be outdone (by anyone), the office dogs tend to step up their A-game when a client or potential interview is in the office.

I can haz sitelinks?

Becker, like all good ninjas (and bad flatulence) is silent, but deadly! His weapon of choice?

SNUGGLES!

We support our friendly local animals and hope you all get to enjoy the unique marketing perspective that pets bring to our business!

Top 5 Give Aways from SMX 2011 (with photos)

  1. I Love SEO Cup from Cavario
The orange, BPA free plastic cup from Cavario are awesome. They mimic the look and feel of a beverage container normally found a fast food joint or coffee shop. It’s washable and 100% cool.
    –
  2. Black on Black Raven T-shirt
Raven Tools were handing out stylish black on black t-shirts with their new logo. I’m wearing mine right now.
  3. SMX Backpack
I registered for the SMX Boot Camp and received a complimentary back pack with the SMX 2011 logo. This was a great way to carry my laptop and snag goodies from vendors.
    –
  4. Stickers from Acquiso
The Acquiso team had black stickers (“Search Hard, Display Harder”) and pink stickers (“M”MMM Datalicious”) available at their booth. Employees were wearing t-shirts that matched the stickers, based on their gender. I was hoping to see one of the Acquiso guys wearing a small pink t-shirt but this did not happen.
    –
  5. SMX SEO Infographic
Not sure if everyone received this, but I was handed a sweet poster size infographic related to SEO. It’s looks like a periodic table and covers the basic aspects of search engine optimization.

A big thanks goes to SMX vendors that helped fill my backpack full of promotional treats. I would also like to thank Raven Tools for taking our team out to dinner after the conference.

Soccer, Socializing, and Supporting A Cause

Web Talent recently sponsored the Go Red Por Tu Corazon Soccer Tournament that was held this past weekend at Lancaster Community Park. We just want to give a special thanks to everyone who came out to play this weekend at the First Annual Soccer Tournament. It was truly a beautiful weekend for spending time outside, playing soccer, raising contributions for the American Heart Association, and getting to know all of the enthusiastic participants. With the tournament being such a success, we know that our next annual event will be even better. Thanks for the support everyone!
