What We’re Reading for September 11th
eBay Celebrates 20th Anniversary:
This month marks the 20th anniversary of eBay, which launched over Labor Day Weekend in 1995. The ecommerce giant is celebrating in a big way. eBay released a major update to its Android and iOS apps with eBay 4.0, making the app more robust and user-friendly. In addition, customers can shop deeply discounted products, like HP Notebooks, during its “20 Days of Deals” promotion. (Contributed by Online PR Specialist Ellen Borza)
Google Panda Update May Have Been Reversed:
The slow release seems to have been retracted as many webmasters report declines in traffic that indicate the Panda update could have been reversed. The theory is that it was reversed or changed significantly meaning sites that saw improvement from their Panda penalty is gone. Google of course has no comment about the change but we’re sure Barry will get to the source. (Contributed by Technical Search Strategist Claudia Pennington)
Adwords Changes the Definition of Conversions:
Beginning some time during October Google is changing the definition of what a conversion is shown as. Normally, the conversions column reports on actual conversions as they were defined by user customization. Now, the column will only show conversions that have optimization selected. Unfortunately, now if you’d like the same analytics you were pulling before you’re going to have to dive into analytics for numbers. (Contributed by Online PR Specialist Anna Horn)
Apple Announces a Bunch of Stuff:
At the Apple announcement this week the team unveiled a lot of new things, updated things, and all sorts of other stuff. Highlights include Hermes watch bands, iPad Pro geared towards artists and creatives coupled with the Apple Pencil. Apple TV is new and as many have commented where TV should be going. Pink iPhones (girls sipping Pumpkin Spice Lattes with their Ugg boots all shed a tears of joy) as well some sort of 3D touch and fancy new photo feature. iOS 9 is Getting New Emojis:
I don’t know about you but I am more than excited for the taco, burrito, and cheese emojis to be coming to the next iOS update. These are amongst other new emojis like swords, spiderwebs, and a hockey stick. But come on being able to express your love for tacos through emojis is one of the best new changes.
